James Clunie – Our Latest Prize Winner
2 Sep 2010  14:25
The summer prize draw was won by James Clunie, a resident from Victoria Road. James was visited by a Travel Advisor on 16th July 2010 and agreed to complete a 5x30 challenge, which involves completing thirty minutes of activity five times within one week. However, James completed ninety minutes of activity seven days in one week. James told us that he has quite an active job and already does a bit of walking, but the challenge pushed him to do even more than he would normally. James was delighted to have won a £200 voucher for Nicholson’s Cycles, having told us that he has never won anything before. He plans to use the voucher to help get his bike fixed in time for the Dundee Cyclathon which takes place on 12th September. However, he stated that he would consider buy a new bike as well and give his existing bike to his 21 year old nephew to help him get to college. James was presented with his prize at the Dundee Travel Active shop by Bryn Williams from Nicholson Cycles on 2nd September. James was very positive about the project and said that the Travel Advisor was very helpful when she called, and encouraged him to complete his challenge. He felt the project was working really well and hoped it was helping people realise how easy it is to keep active. Personalised Travel Planning begins its second year
9 Jun 2010  08:25
The second year of the Dundee Travel Active Personalised Travel Planning (PTP) project began on 1st June. We have a new team of eight Travel Advisors who will be out visiting around 9,000 households in the Hilltown, Stobswell and West End areas over the next four months. We had a fantastic response to the project during 2009, with more than one third of all the people we spoke to telling us that they are now getting more exercise, and many who say that they’re saving money and feeling healthier too. If you live in one of the above areas, have a 10 minute chat with an advisor on your doorstep who can offer ideas and advice on ways to get active that suit you. They will also offer you the chance to take up an Active Challenge with a number of great prizes to be won. Our advisors wear bright red uniforms and carry a photo ID badge and remember that the service is completely free – they won’t be trying to sell you anything. There are other ways that you can take part too – why not drop in to our shop in the Wellgate Centre (opposite TJ Hughes), phone us on 0800 111 4510 or email us at info@dundeetravelactive.com
